June 23, 2008 OSBN Advanced Practice Update
Formulary Draft Rules The passage of SB 1062 directed the Board to remove from rule the requirement for a specific prescribing formulary based on Drug Facts and Comparisons. At the April 10, 2008 meeting the Board approved draft amendments to Division 56 which would remove these references and replace sections of rule with general prescribing principles. The Board was asked several questions to direct drafting of final rules. Final rules are scheduled to be adopted on June 12, 2008. The Board directed that:
Tamper Proof Prescriptions The Oregon State Board of Pharmacy has published new criteria which defines “tamper proof” prescriptions for the purpose of new federal regulations. Continuing Education and Pain Management CE The
Board continues to receive many inquiries regarding the one time pain
management CE requirement for all nurses as well as the CNS and NP specific
