Democratic Candidates for Statewide Offices Announce Statewide Tour While most Oregonians are focused on the Presidential and U.S. Senate races, there are four other statewide races of importance to Oregon's future: Secretary of State, State Treasurer, Attorney General and Labor Commissioner. The Democratic candidates for these seats will be traveling around the state to highlight these races as well as to energize voters in their local communities. The “State of Change” tour will visit over 20 communities throughout Oregon between Labor Day and Election Day and will feature Kate Brown, candidate for Secretary of State, Ben Westlund, candidate for State Treasurer, John Kroger, candidate for Attorney General, and Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian. Medical Association proposes limiting During the AMA House of Delegates June 14-18, 2008, Resolution 214 proposes that the DNP must practice under the supervision of a physician. Resolution 303 proposes that the title "residency" only apply to physician, dentist or podiatrist training program and proposes protection through legislation for the titles of "Doctor," "Resident" and "Residency" be be provided. Look for the the American Nurses Association response. The Oregon Nurses Assiciation is in communication efforts with Oregon Medical Association regarding their delegates positions on these issues The Medicaid Advanced Practice Nurses and Physicians Assistants Access Act of 2007 This bill will assist nurse practitioners who are having major difficulties being placed on Medicaid Managed Care and SCHIP provider panels. While nurse practitioners are, and have been, recognized as providers in the fee for service portions of the Medicaid program, problems are being encountered with obtaining the same recognition in our Medicaid managed care and SCHIP programs. As a result patients have reduced access to healthcare and often are forced to delay care or seek care in more expensive emergency rooms.
