Getting to Know Our NPO Members

Who are you?

  • Brooks Gaston

Where did you receive your education?

  • I got my BA in English at St. Olaf College, my BSN at University of Texas Pan-American, and my MS at OHSU.

What type of NP are you and where and what do you practice?

  • I have been a member of NPO since 2011 and have served on the professional standards committee and as the chairperson of the nominating committee.

How long have you been a member of NPO, what roles have you had?

  • I’ve only been a member since 2016 (see below). I chair the Independent Practice and Business Owners committee, serve on the ONA Political Action Committee, and am a constant visitor (and member hopeful) on the ONA Cabinet for Health Policy. It’s all a privilege.

What is one thing you’d be willing to share that others may not know?

  • One thing people may not know about me is that I teach 3rd-5th grade Sunday School at my church. I also coach youth basketball.

Why are you a NPO member? Why should others join NPO?

  • I am an NPO member because I believe we need to stand together to be strong. I also enjoy interacting with all the NPs around the state. I hope people join for the same reasons I’ve just shared.
