PCSS MAT Buprenorphine Waiver Training

NPO is excited to team up with Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS) to provide a 4-hour session as part of a MAT Buprenorphine Waiver Training. The session will be held as one of our breakout sessions.

To apply for a waiver to prescribe buprenorphine, nurse practitioners (NPs) must, in accordance with the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA), complete 24 hours of specialized training*. The training includes 8 hours of MAT waiver training and an additional 16 hours of training for APRNs and PAs. This session will provide 4 in-person hours toward the 8 hours required for the waiver training, followed by an online training module provided by PCSS to complete the waiver training. *(currently a waiver is not required for up to 30 patients however many would like the training to be more competent in their prescribing).

At the end of the 8 hour MAT waiver training for NPs through PCSS, participants will receive a CE Certificate for 8.0 continuing nursing education contact hours (8.0 contact hours in pharmacology) provided by the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP).

This session is part of the conference, but for those who want to attend this session only, you can register for this standalone session at no cost. Use the registration option above and select the “MAT Buprenorphine Waiver Training ONLY on Sept. 29” option.

After signing up for this session here on the conference webpage, you will be required to complete a separate registration directly though the PCSS website so you can receive the training materials via email in advance and so you can complete certification of class/education on the day of the training. There will be NO onsite option to register for this class. Both registration processes must be completed before the conference registration deadline.

NOTE: You will have to complete both the in-person training AND the online portion to receive any CE for this session. The CE is provided by AAAP, not NPO or the Oregon Nurses Association.

Joint Accreditation Statement: In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) and Nurse Practitioners of Oregon. American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
