Continuing Education

Registration

Online registration is available until September 18.

Conference fees include: attendance at the conference, continental breakfasts, Thursday and Saturday lunch, Friday’s NPO Business Luncheon.
  • NPO Member Rate is for members of ONA/NPO or members of other state nurses associations that are affiliated with the American Nurses Association. Proof of membership in other state nurses associations must be emailed to NPO@oregonRN.org to receive the discount code.
  • Non-Member Rate is for NPs and CNSs who are not a member of NPO, physicians, physician assistants, and all allied health professionals.
  • NP Student Rate is for students who are currently enrolled in an NP program. Proof of enrollment must be emailed to NPO@oregonRN.org to receive the discount code.
  • Retired NP Member Rate is for NPO members who have had their license officially retired with the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

CANCELLATIONS

Cancellations must be received on or before Sept. 18, 2024. An administrative fee of $50 will be deducted from all refunds. No refunds will be given after Sept. 18, 2024. Written cancellations should be emailed to NPO@oregonRN.org.

Hotel and Lodging

NPO has secured a room block at special conference rates for attendees at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Portland Downtown. The deadline to book with the discounted rates at Embassy Suites is Sept. 21. 

  • Standard King: $165 per night
  • Standard 2 Queen Beds: $185 per night

Room rates quoted above are non-commissionable, net rates, subject to the current hotel occupancy tax rate of 13% and 3% mandatory tourism fee (subject to change without notice). These rates are available to conference attendees 3 days before and 3 days after the official conference dates.

Room reservation options:

To reserve a room within the room block, the reservation must be secured with a valid credit card. Rooms at the group block rate must be reserved by no later than August 27, 2024.

Other Events

There may be various meetings and dinners taking place during the conference that are not directly related to the conference and have no continuing education hours attached. NPO Conference attendees are invited to take part in the events and they will be listed below as we get more information.

NPO Social/Networking Event

Keynote Speakers

Stephen FerreraDr. Stephen Ferrara is the president of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). He is an actively practicing nurse practitioner (NP), executive and faculty member. Ferrara combines years of clinical and health policy development experience to increase access to NP-partnered care. He is a member of the senior leadership team at Columbia University's School of Nursing, serving as the associate dean of clinical affairs and assistant professor. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the NP primary care faculty practice located in Manhattan and teaches health policy in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. Ferrara previously served as the executive director of Jonas Nursing and Veterans Healthcare and the Nurse Practitioner Association New York State, where he was instrumental in removing many statutory barriers to NP practice.

Ferrara is passionate about health information technology and the implementation of evidence-based practice. His doctoral work examined the impact of group medical visits for patients with Type 2 diabetes and whether this intervention led to better health outcomes. Ferrara holds many accolades, including the AANP New York NP State Award for Excellence. He is a Fellow of AANP, the American Academy of Nursing, the National Academies of Practice and the New York Academy of Medicine.

 

 

Anita Kea'lani Yap PhotoAnita Keā'lani Yap is a fourth generation Chinese American and Native Hawaiian born and raised in Oregon. She has over 30 years experience working in Oregon's communities focusing on racial and health equity, community engagement, public policy, urban design, climate and environmental justice issues with non-profits, governments agencies and businesses. She has worked at the intersection of the built environment, public health and environmental justice centering community voices and leadership with roles at the Office of Equity and Inclusion Oregon Health Authority, Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, Housing Authority of Portland, Lane Transit District, regional and city community development departments, Mercy Corps NW, Unite Oregon and the US Forest Service. She has received numerous awards and recognition for her approach and commitment to engaging with Communities of Color. Anita holds a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Oregon and a BS in Forestry from Oregon State University. She has three daughters and lives in Portland.
