2012 NPO Survey Results

The Nurse Practitioners of Oregon periodically conducts a survey of all Oregon NPs to determine information about NP practice and the issues that you face. This year, our survey has an even greater significance as Oregon moves toward health care transformation, the establishment of Coordinated Care Organizations, and increases in the number of people seeking health coverage.

For over 40 years, our purpose has been to advocate for the practice and role of NPs. The results of this survey will be used in our work at the legislature, with state and federal agencies, and to answer questions raised by the media.

This year, the survey was conducted in summer and fall of 2012. It had been ten years since conduct of the last comprehensive survey of nurse practitioners; a smaller, topical survey was done in 2008.

Topic areas of the survey were identified and previously asked as well as new questions were selected or created for each topic area. The topic areas of the survey were:

  • Demographic information
  • Practice profile
  • Issues related to compensation and third party reimbursement
  • Benefits
  • Professional issues

The full report of survey findings is available free of charge to NPO/ONA members and survey respondents. For non-members who did not participate in the survey there is a charge of $25 for the full report.

Membership and survey participation will be verified upon order receipt.
