Candidate Statements

Larlene Dunsmuir, DNP, FNP, ANP-BC

As a professional NP, I value the role that NPO has played throughout my career, in advocating for our profession and the patients we serve. It has been an honor to serve in a variety of roles with other NP leaders in the state and I look forward to further experience and opportunity with this wonderful organization.

We are fortunate to practice in a state with Full Practice Authority, Prescriptive Authority, and Payment Parity (what I call 'The Triple Crown') but I don't take for granted that our broad scope is a guarantee. We need strong leadership within NPO to make sure that we continue to practice at the top of our scope and without arbitrary barriers for our patients.

I am asking for your support in electing me to the NPO Chair Elect position so that I can serve you, the NPs of Oregon. If elected, I will work to ensure that we continue to have the best practice in the country and the NPO is an organization that meets the needs of its membership.

L. Alison Lyon, DNP, APRN, NP-C, ACHPN

Hello! My name is Alison Lyon and I am looking forward to being your treasurer! To share a bit about me, I work primarily as a hospice and palliative care nurse practitioner and teach DNP students. I have a passion for teaching both formally and informally and enjoy seeing nurses and NPs grow.

I am running for this office because I believe in the importance of NP representation and the NP voice. As NPs, we have been trained as leaders and it is critical that we maintain and grow our state organization. I have previously been an active member of other state nurse practitioner organizations in both Arkansas and Texas. I look forward to continued state involvement in Oregon and representing my peers as part of the executive committee.
