Getting to Know Our NPO Members

Who are you?

Roger Fogg, FNP

Where did you study?

I initially did my undergraduate studies at Cal. State San Bernardino with a BA in Chemistry in 1972. I went back to school and obtained an AA in nursing at San Bernardino Valley College in 1977.

My MPH was from Loma Linda University with a major in health administration in 1986 and I finally did a MSN/FNP program at Western University of Health Science finishing in 2003

Where do you practice and what’s your specialty?

I have my own office in rural Josephine County. I spend half my time in the office. I spend one day a week visiting many of the 18 memory care facilities I attend and another day caring for nursing home residents.

How long have you been a member of NPO?

I joined shortly after graduating from my NP program in 2003.

What previous leadership roles have you had with ONA/NPO?

I was the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) state rep and attended NPO activities in that role. I was elected chair-elect in 2017 and recently ascended to the role of chair.

What is one thing you’d be willing to share that others may not know?

I was a fireman in our local fire department for 19 years serving the members of the community by providing fire protection and EMS.

Why are you a NPO member?

I feel it is the duty of all NPs to support both their state and national organizations because they assist in protecting and advancing the role of nurse practitioners.

Why should others join NPO?

The collegiality of members can advance our education by sharing stories, ideas, and suggestions. The state conference provides great opportunities for getting to know our co-workers and obtaining CNE/CME at the same time. Finally, the legislative group helps advance and protect our roles as NPs. We should all work and play together.
